A new chapter

Back in June 2014, I lost my job in Mexico City as an editorial coordinator/distribution coordinator for an architecture media company. I was surprised at the decision, but ultimately, I wasn't happy anymore and I'm a firm believer in doing what makes you happy, so all in all, it was for the best.

At the time, I wasn't worried about not having a job, as I had already applied for my dream job and was waiting to hear back. Sadly, as luck would have it, that didn't work out and because I had hold on other opportunities, I lost those as well, waiting to get 'the call'.

My third option was moving to Puebla (I couldn't afford to stay in Mexico City not having a job, and didn't really know how long it would take me to find one). A had lived in Puebla for a couple of years now and I had already made the decision to move there by the beginning of 2015, so it made sense for me to just pack up my apartment and move a few months earlier.

Turns out, not having furniture of your own, doesn't make moving out of state any easier. After living in Mexico City for almost three years, I had collected a lot of crap. It took forever but I was able to pack everything in NINE pieces of luggage which had to travel BY BUS, not to where I was moving, but home, as in even farther, to Veracruz.

Why would someone move all of her belongings somewhere other than where shes's moving to? Well, I didn't have where to take my stuff. A had been living in Puebla for 2 years, but he had been renting a room in a house and I had an apartment full of stuff in Mexico City. First, he'd have to find us an apartment or house, and then, I could stuff another bus full of my things and head to my new life.

I first got to Puebla in mid September and we moved into our new (rented) house in October. We had a mattress, a blender, and a lot of useless things packed in my bags. It wasn't exactly easy starting a new life here, having no job or knowledge of where to start looking, but at least, after over four years of a long distance relationship we were together.
